BATON ROUGE, La. – The Auburn women's golf team played 36 holes Tuesday, completing the first and second rounds of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic, and with the final round Wednesday, Auburn is currently in seventh place at 15-over.

"We have five players that have never seen the course and it showed at times," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "We really struggled finding the fairway on the 18th hole but had no trouble finding the water. We just gave away too many shots with bogeys on par 5s and doubles. The goal is to clean up the course management issues and post a solid team score."

The Tigers jumped out to a share of the lead early with four of the five players making at least one birdie on one of their first five holes. The only who didn't birdie was senior Elena Hualde Zuniga, but after five straight pars, she made an eagle on her sixth hole.

Hualde Zuniga finished with the team's top score in round one, carding a 72 (E). She followed that with a 2-over 74 in the second round and is tied for 18th on the player leaderboard.

Sophomore Megan Schofill fired the low round of the day for Auburn with a 2-under 70 in the second round. She capped the round with back-to-back birdies on her last two holes. Schofill, who shot a 75 (+3) in the first round, is tied for 14th overall.

"It was good to see Megan post a solid round this afternoon," Luellen said. "Her wedge play was pretty sharp, and it set up some birdies for her."

Seniors Mychael O'Berry and Kaleigh Telfer both made birdie on their first hole of the day. It was one of three birdies for O'Berry through the first 18 holes as she finished the first round with a 73 (+1). After shooting a 74 (+2) in round two, she's in a tie for 23rd at 3-over par. Telfer is tied for 57th overall after carding rounds of 75 (+3) and 78 (+6), and rounding out the Auburn continent is freshman Anna Foster in 68th place.

As a team, Auburn knocked in 22 birdies and one eagle in the first two rounds.

LSU leads the field at 9-under par (567), followed by Vanderbilt (576), Ole Miss (582), Mississippi State (584), Texas A&M (588), Arkansas (590), Auburn (591), Alabama (592), Tennessee (593), Pepperdine (594), Kentucky (596), Florida (597), Florida State (600) and Georgia (609).

There will be another shotgun start for the third and final round Wednesday with all 14 teams teeing off at 8:30 a.m. CT. Auburn will be paired with Alabama and Tennessee. Live scoring can be found on Golfstat.com
