Why did you chose your profession: "It truly was a series of God directing my path. Growing up, I always wanted to be a veterinarian so Auburn was a great choice for me both athletically and academically. After working at a vet office over the summer before my junior year, I realized it was not the profession I wanted to pursue. I started to panic about my future, but my roommate and teammate was applying to dental school and suggested I look into it. I found a job working at a dental office the following summer and knew it was the path for me. While in dental school, I was offered a rare opportunity to co-treat some orthodontic cases with the residents and I fell in love with the specialty and the transformations we were able to achieve.
The relationships I form with my patients and the difference I'm able to make in their lives are the best parts of my profession."
How did Auburn prepare you to be successful in your field: "Auburn reenforced and solidified the qualities learned while growing up competing in gymnastics - qualities that include: hard work, time management, determination, humility, and resilience. I attribute my success to these qualities, as well as countless prayers and the guidance of numerous others along the way."
Advice to current and future Auburn gymnasts: "Do not take this opportunity for granted because these will be some of the best years and memories of your life. Take advantage of all the support you are given to navigate the college experience and work hard at being both a student and an athlete. Find a church family. Take time to have fun and just be in the moment. And don't be afraid to seek help in making the transition after college graduation. It is a new and emotional time because your identity that you've known for most of your life is changing."
What does Auburn Family mean to you?: "It brings about a feeling that I can't explain. Being a part of the Auburn Family and experiencing the many Auburn traditions like Tiger Walk, watching the eagle fly, and rolling Toomer's Corner bring about a sense of belonging and camaraderie. I still get nostalgic anytime I see an Auburn logo or hear "War Eagle" from a fellow Auburn fan."
