AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn student-athletes Spencer Gray (Men's Tennis) and Keira McCarrell (Women's Track & Field) have been selected as the Fall 2021 PNC Achievers Award winners.
The PNC Achievers program celebrates achievement among student-athletes and showcases student success through its honors and recognition program. A male and female student-athlete are recognized each semester for their well-rounded achievement through leadership, academic success, community engagement and in competition.
Gray is a junior on the men's tennis team who is studying finance. He's a two-time ITA Scholar Athlete who made the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2020 and was named to the SEC Community Service Team for men's tennis in 2021. The native of Boca Raton, Florida also serves as a CONNECT leader at Auburn and is a former SAAC representative.
"I am very honored and grateful to receive this award," Gray said. "I wouldn't be able to do the things I can if I didn't have the support of the incredible family within Auburn Athletics."
McCarrell is a senior from Salem, Oregon who throws javelin and shot put for the women's track and field team. She currently serves as the Chair of Equity & Inclusion at Auburn and has also headed up the Voter's Education Sub-Committee and the NCAA Diversity & Inclusion Social Media Campaign. McCarrell, who was named to the SEC Academic Honor roll in Spring 2021, is majoring in speech language and hearing sciences.
"As my senior year comes to a close, I've spent more time reflecting on all that Auburn has done for me," McCarrell said. "Being named a PNC Achiever is just a testament to all the opportunities Auburn has given me and other student-athletes. I'm so thankful I've been able to leave my mark here and for all the support I've gotten as a transfer student."
Gray and McCarrell will be recognized as the Fall 2021 PNC Achievers at the Auburn-Georgia men's basketball game on Wednesday, Jan. 19.
