It's time to meet the newcomers to the 2021-22 Auburn equestrian team!
Up next is a freshman from Canton, Georgia… Mary-Grace Segars! Prior to Auburn, Mary-Grace finished 10th at 2020 Gladstone Cup Final and was the JD Pounds Medal final champion. Additionally, she was the GHJA Equitation Final Reserve Champion and finished 10th at the NAL Children's Jumper Finals.
Q: Why did you chose Auburn?
"I chose Auburn because of the opportunity I was offered to ride on the equestrian team and the beautiful campus! It's also very close to home which I love."
Q: How long have you been riding?
"I have been riding for 15 years. I was taught by my mom, Leslie, until I was 11."
Q: What is your favorite team memory?
"My favorite team memory so far has been just getting to know my teammates and spending so much time with them. I will never forget the lifelong memories I have made with some of my newest best friends!"
Q: What is something that makes you smile?
"Something that instantly makes my day better is spending time with my horses and friends both in Auburn and at home."
Q: What are you looking forward to most this season?
"Something I am looking forward to most this season is getting to say that I have officially finished out a solid freshman season."
Q: What are your plans after college?
"After college I would like to continue riding. Whether that is teaching or showing, I would love to continue doing what I love in the horse industry."
Q: What is at the top of your bucket list?
"On the top of my bucket list is to travel to Greece! I have always loved the movie Mamma Mia which takes place here."
Q: What was the name of your first pony?
"The name of my first pony was Bridgette. She was the perfect first pony that me and my sister Molly got to share."
