CHICAGO – Auburn All-American defender Alyssa Malonson has been called up to the U.S. Under-23 Women's Youth National Team camp, which will take place in Austin, Texas from Jan. 23-28.
It marks the second time Malonson has been called up to the U-23 team after previously competing for the youth national team in the spring of 2019.
The U-23s will be a part of a closed-door scrimmage against the full U.S. Women's National Team at the end of training camp.
Malonson recently wrapped up her illustrious Auburn career by being named a 2021 United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American and the 2021 SEC Defender of the Year, becoming the fourth conference player of the year in program history.
During her fifth and final season on the Plains, the four-time All-SEC honoree set the program record for games played, games started and consecutive games started as she logged 97 straight starts in her career. She also finished in the top 10 in career assists with 23.
After being drafted by the N.C. Courage with the 20th overall pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft but finishing out her collegiate career last fall, Malonson's rights were obtained by the OL Reign last week.
