AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 3 Auburn equestrian team returned to action Friday and hosted a trio of Jumping Seat only contests at the Auburn University Equestrian Center. The Tigers bested SUNY New Paltz, 7-1, to start the day and capped the afternoon with a sweep of Sewanee, 8-0.
 
"They rode really well today," head coach Greg Williams said. "I am really proud of them for executing a plan to get three meets done in one day! Having these new teams and riding in this format is fantastic and we're looking forward to another fun day tomorrow."
 
Auburn closes out the busy weekend with an 11 a.m. CT meet Saturday vs. Dartmouth.
 
AUBURN VS. SUNY NEW PALTZ
The Tigers kicked off the morning with a 7-1 victory over SUNY New Paltz and started with a 3-1 mark in Flat. The squad swept the Hawks in Fences, 4-0.
 
Freshman Sophee Steckbeck picked up a pair of wins for the squad, including an MOP ride in Flat as she scored 77.5 points. She edged her Fences opponent, 64-62.
 
Also earning wins in Flat were seniors Emma Kurtz and Helen Ulrich. Kurtz scored 73 points in her victory, while Ulrich finished with a 71.5-62 win over Devyn Looney.
 
Freshman Mary-Grace Segars led off Fences with a 79-76 win and was followed by Steckbeck's victory. Senior Meghan Knapic secured MOP honors with an 86-78 win over Brynley Smith and sophomore Ellie Ferrigno capped the meet with 80 points to best Alanna Ryan's 69.
 
AUBURN VS. SEWANEE
Auburn secured a complete sweep of Sewanee, going 8-0 between Fences and Flat.
 
Ulrich earned MOP with an 82-73.5 win over Gillian Aiken to start things off on Flat. Ferrigno followed with 76 points to top Georgia Ranson and junior Ava Stearns bested Kit Ferguson, 72-68.5. Steckbeck capped the event with a 75-68.5 victory.
 
Fences closed things out and saw another senior earn MOP as Kurtz beat Aiken, 84-73. Ferrigno earned 85 points in her win, while Stearns finished with an 81-76 victory. Knapic concluded the day with a 69-45 win over Ferguson.
