Alumni Spotlight: Jorja Bell

Alumni Spotlight: Jorja BellAlumni Spotlight: Jorja Bell

In 1997, Auburn softball competed in its inaugural season. Throughout the 2022 campaign, we are celebrating the many faces, moments and victories that have shaped our program over the last 25 years.

As part of our 25 Years of Auburn Softball celebration, we're checking in with alumni from every era of the program to share their memories of being a Tiger

Traveling across the globe to play for the Tigers, Jorja Bell (2005-08) was a three-time member of both the SEC Community Service Team and the SEC Academic Honor Roll. The Auckland, New Zealand native, found a second home on the Plains.

Q: Why did you decide to continue your softball career at Auburn?
Bell: Traveling from the other side of the world was quite daunting. On my recruiting visit, I fell in love with the South and the Auburn Family.

Q: What is your favorite on-field memory?
Bell: Hitting a walk-off home run against Kentucky in my last game at Jane B. Moore Field. My parents didn't make it to many games, so it was special to have them both there to see it.

Q: What do you consider your biggest accomplishment during your collegiate career – on or off the field?
Bell: Graduating early so that I could maintain my eligibility for my senior season.

Q: What is one of your favorite memories with a teammate?
Bell: Anna (Thompson) Parks and Lauren Walton were bridesmaids at my wedding. Most of the team was there, too.

Q: Looking back at your career, what is one word you'd use to describe it?
Bell: Transformative. Without Auburn softball, I wouldn't have met my husband, made friends that are now family or gone to law school. My life would be very different if that had not occurred.

Q: Who influenced your softball career the most?
Bell: The biggest influences in my softball career would have to by my dad, Garson Bell, Brian Jones, Nardi Leonard and Kalala Gabriel. Together they instilled in me a passion for the game and a work ethic that has continued to serve me well – long after I stopped playing softball.

Q: What was your favorite uniform combo?
Bell: The all navy combo with white socks and white helmets.

Q: Why advice would you give to current/future Auburn softball student-athletes?
Bell: Being an Auburn athlete can help open a lot of doors in your future, but you have to put in the hard work both on and off the field.

Q: If you can give a message to the Auburn Family, what would it be?
Bell: Thank you for supporting Auburn softball. I always loved seeing so many fans at home and away games. War Eagle!

Q: What degree did you earn? What is your current career path?
Bell: I received a bachelor's degree in human development and family sciences. I am currently an attorney and a partner at Loftin, Loftin and May. I was recently named a rising star in civil litigation.
