In 1997, Auburn softball competed in its inaugural season. Throughout the 2022 campaign, we are celebrating the many faces, moments and victories that have shaped our program over the last 25 years.
As part of our 25 Years of Auburn Softball celebration, we're checking in with alumni from every era of the program to share their memories of being a Tiger.
Transferring from Yavapai Community College, Caitlin Stangl (2010-11) developed into a key starter in her final two collegiate seasons and solidified herself as one of Auburn's top run producers over her junior and senior seasons.
Q: Why did you decide to continue your softball career at Auburn?
Stangl: The atmosphere and Auburn's unwavering spirit.
Q: What is your favorite on-field memory?
Stangl: I can't choose one. Any time that I shared the field with the team was an honor.
Q: What do you consider your biggest accomplishment during your collegiate career – on or off the field?
Stangl: Graduating while still grinding as an Auburn athlete.
Q: What is one of your favorite memories with a teammate?
Stangl: I have too many to choose.
Q: Looking back at your career, what is one word you'd use to describe it?
Stangl: Irreplaceable.
Q: Who influenced your softball career the most?
Stangl: My influences have always and forever will be my teammates.
Q: What was your favorite uniform combo?
Stangl: All blues.
Q: Why advice would you give to current/future Auburn softball student-athletes?
Stangl: Enjoy each moment as it presents itself. Learn from mistakes and be humble in times of success.
Q: If you can give a message to the Auburn Family, what would it be?
Stangl: WDE!!
Q: What degree did you earn?
Stangl: I left Auburn with a degree in history.
