NASSAU, Bahamas – Fighting the island winds of the Bahamas, Auburn men's golf rallied to a third-place team finish following the conclusion of round one of the Nexus Collegiate on Monday.

"Obviously, today was challenging from a weather standpoint, but at the end of the day, our guys battled, and that's what matters most," Tigers head coach Nick Clinard said. "You can't always have those perfect days out on the course, so learning to play in adverse conditions will only make us stronger. We look forward to embracing the challenge these next two days."

Apart from Ohio State, each competing school finished at least 14 strokes over par. The Tigers checked in at 304, 16-over.

The average individual score was 78.91 strokes for the round. Of Auburn's five team players, three finished below the round average.

Despite the playing conditions, sophomore J.M. Butler and junior C.J. Easley still managed to turn in a pair of top-10 outings. Butler shot 73, 1-over and Easley shot 74, 2-over. Junior Austin Coggin sits just outside the top 15 at 77, 5-over.
