Alumni Spotlight: Madison DickeyAlumni Spotlight: Madison Dickey

In 1997, Auburn softball competed in its inaugural season. Throughout the 2022 campaign, we are celebrating the many faces, moments and victories that have shaped our program over the last 25 years.

As part of our 25 Years of Auburn Softball celebration, we're checking in with alumni from every era of the program to share their memories of being a Tiger.

Spending her final two seasons on the Plains, Madison Dickey (2015-16) was a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll as was part of Auburn's roster for its two Women's College World Series appearances.

Q: Why did you decide to continue your softball career at Auburn?
Dickey: I chose to play at Auburn because I knew we would play the very best competition at the highest level possible and have a chance to play for a national championship every year. I also loved the family atmosphere that came with attending Auburn.

Q: What is your favorite on-field memory?
Dickey: Winning the 2015 SEC Championship – the first in school history.

Q: What do you consider your biggest accomplishment during your collegiate career – on or off the field?
Dickey: My biggest accomplishment was building lifetime relationships with my teammates. I made some of my very best friend while at Auburn and for that I am forever grateful.

Q: What is one of your favorite memories with a teammate?
Dickey: I would say being roommates with Madi Gipson. We had so many fun times and hilarious moments as roommates.

Q: Looking back at your career, what is one word you'd use to describe it?
Dickey: Blessed. When I think about my time at Auburn, I am just overcome with so much thankfulness. I cannot believe the path that led me to Auburn and how it shaped my whole life. Without Auburn softball, there are so many opportunities and relationships that I would not have.

Q: Who influenced your softball career the most?
Dickey: My dad. He was my coach for most of my life. He would go to the batting cages with me whenever I asked. He is so knowledgeable about the game. I would not have been the plate I was without him.

Q: What was your favorite uniform combo?
Dickey: White on white!

Q: Why advice would you give to current/future Auburn softball student-athletes?
Dickey: Give 100 percent every day in all that you do on and off the field. It really does matter if you do this. Softball is four years but work ethic will last your whole life.

Q: If you can give a message to the Auburn Family, what would it be?
Dickey: I am so thankful to get to call you all family! The Auburn softball fans really are the best in the country. Thank you for your continued support of the best sport in the world!

Q: What degree did you earn? What is your current career path?
Dickey: Finance. Currently, I am a mortgage loan processor for Republic Bank.
