Tigers lead after two rounds at Nexus Collegiate

 NASSAU, Bahamas – Auburn men's golf produced a Tuesday outing three strokes better than its previous one to take the lead through 36 holes at the Nexus Collegiate. The Tigers sit three strokes ahead of second place Ohio State and have four golfers inside the top 15.
 
"Really solid outing today," Auburn head coach Nick Clinard said. "We did a lot of things right, and it paid dividends for us. We have to keep our foot on the gas and keep playing smart golf if we want come out on top tomorrow."
 
Once again playing through the Caribbean winds, scores continued to rise for all competitors as the round's average increased by two strokes to 80.91 for the day. All but two Tigers finished below the average.
 
Sophomore J.M. Butler turned in a duplicate performance from round one, shooting 73, 1-over once again to bring his tally through two rounds to 146, 2-over. Butler sits second on the individual leaderboard, one stroke behind the tournament leader.
 
Butler also ranks inside the event's top-five in both pars (24) and birdies (6) made.
 
Also besting his play from round one was junior Austin Coggin who chipped three strokes off to shoot 74, 2-over on the day. Coggin is tied for sixth on the player leaderboard with a 151, 7-over total.
 
Showing the most drastic improvement was sophomore Carson Bacha. Bacha dropped 10 strokes from round one to shoot 73, 1-over on the day. The York, Pennsylvania native leads all unattached players and is tied for 14th heading into Wednesday's finale.
 
UP NEXT
Auburn tees off the final round at 7 a.m. CT with Butler on hole one. The Tigers will be paired with Ohio State and North Florida to conclude tournament play.
