AUBURN, Ala. – Ahead of a tough test at the St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational Presented by Wilson, Auburn Softball earned its first top 25 ranking of the 2022 season.
The Tigers (5-0) were ranked No. 25 in the latest addition of the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25. Auburn was also receiving votes in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll.
No. 25 Auburn will face a loaded field at the SPC Elite Invitational, including a pair of top-25 matchups in No. 3 UCLA and No. 9 Texas.
Auburn received its ranking after an impressive performance in the circle and at the plate during the Tiger Invitational. Auburn went 5-0 over opening weekend with four run-rule victories.
The Tigers currently lead the nation with an .814 slugging percentage, while also ranking second in scoring (10.0), fifth in batting average (.424) and seventh in earned run average (0.52).
Oklahoma was the unanimous No. 1 team across all four major softball polls. A total of nine SEC teams were ranked, including No. 2 Alabama, No. 4 Florida, No. 10 Arkansas, No. 15 Tennessee, No. 17 Missouri, No. 18 Georgia, No. 19 Kentucky and No. 22 LSU.
