AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn's Anna Foster and Megan Schofill were both among the top 25 women chosen in the February Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking, released Thursday.
Foster, a native of Ireland, ranked No. 19 for the International Team while Schofill, who hails from Florida, was at No. 16 in the United States Team rankings. The top six golfers from the spring's final ranking from both the U.S. and International men and women will be among the individuals selected to compete in the 2022 Palmer Cup.
Using Golfstat's NCAA Player Ranking as a base, the Palmer Cup Ranking awards bonus points for wins and high finishes and a penalty for poor finishes. The ranking also contains a strength of schedule component.
The remaining six spots for the United States will consist of five committee picks, including at least one non-Division I golfer, and a coaches pick. The balance of the International team also includes five committee selections, including at least one representative from The R&A Student Tour Series, and a coaches pick.
Foster and Schofill are both enjoying their strongest seasons yet at Auburn.
Foster shot nine consecutive rounds under par at one point, a streak that began in September and didn't end until earlier this month at the UCF Challenge. She's shot par or better in 11 of 12 rounds this season and leads the team with an average score of 70.5 per round. She's finished 10th or better in each of the last three tournaments.
Schofill has the low round of the year for the Tigers at 66 and is just behind Foster with an average of 70.6 per round. The junior has eight rounds under par, including three straight in The Ally at Old Waverly where she finished tied for 3rd at 11-under par.
The next Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking will be announced on March 3, 2022.
