MELBOURNE, Fla. – Three Tigers shot under par Monday and helped the Auburn women's golf team move up the leaderboard at the Moon Golf Invitational. After finishing the day at 1-under, Auburn is now in sixth place through the first two rounds.
Senior Mychael O'Berry fired a 1-under 71 for the second straight day. O'Berry started her round with a birdie and made two more on the day, bringing her total to seven for the tournament. She's currently tops on the team and in a tie for sixth overall.
Megan Schofill and Kaleigh Telfer also shot 71 (-1) in Monday's second round. Like O'Berry, Schofill birdied the opening hole. The junior finished with a team-best four birdies for the round and moved up 43 spots into a tie for 34th. Telfer climbed into the top 20 and is tied for 19th at 2-over with 18 holes remaining.
Senior Julie McCarthy, playing as in individual this week, followed her 69 (-3) from Sunday with a 74 (+2) in round two and remains under par for the tournament. She dropped a couple spots on the individual leaderboard but is still in the top 10.
With a score of 75 (+3) on Monday, sophomore Anna Foster is now 3-over through two rounds and tied for 28th individually. Fellow sophomore Elina Sinz is tied for 55th after carding a 74 (+2) in the second round, a score that counted toward the team score.
Rounding out the Auburn continent is freshman Morgan Jones who shot 75 (+3) in the second round as an individual. It was her best collegiate round thus far.
Florida State remains in the lead heading into the final round with a two-round total of 573, followed by Virginia (575), UCF (578), LSU (579), Florida (581), Auburn (582), Alabama (583), South Carolina (586), Baylor (589), Arkansas (590), Duke (594), Louisville (596), Augusta (599), North Carolina (603) and Miami (615)
The Tigers will tee off the final round at 7:50 a.m. CT on Tuesday and will be paired with SEC counterparts Florida and LSU. Live scoring can be found on Golfstat.com.
