MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Auburn women's golf team put together another solid round Tuesday to close out the Moon Golf Invitational. A day after going 1-under, the Tigers shot 1-over as a team and finished tied for seventh with a total score of 871 (+7).

'We didn't play poorly at all this week. Just didn't catch fire," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "I'm very pleased with three players in the top 20, especially Julie (McCarthy).

"We wanted to be in the hunt for Anne and Dan Moon but not to be this time. They have truly created a wonderful collegiate tournament with a very strong field."

The three players in the top 20 for Auburn were the three fifth-year seniors – Mychael O'Berry, Julie McCarthy and Kaleigh Telfer.

O'Berry and McCarthy both shot 73 (+1) on Tuesday. O'Berry started the tournament with back-to-back rounds at 1-under and finished in 13th place individually. McCarthy, who fired a 69 (-3), in the first round, came in at even par for the week – putting her in a tie for 14th. The duo each made 10 birdies, including three apiece in the final round.

Telfer finished in a tie for 18th after shooting an even-par 72 in Tuesday's third round. The senior has now shot par or better in five of her eight rounds this season.

Sophomore Elina Sinz had the low round of the day for Auburn with a 71 (-1) to wrap up her week. Sinz started the round with a birdie and finished it with another birdie on 18. She moved up 11 spots from Monday and placed in a tie for 44th.

Megan Schofill and Anna Foster both finished tied for 37th on the individual leaderboard at 5-over for the tournament. Schofill made a team-best 12 birdies, including five on Tuesday as she closed with a 1-over 73. Foster shot 74 (+2) in the final round.

Freshman Morgan Jones posted her best score of the week Tuesday with a 74 (+2) in the third round. Jones improved each round and finished in a tie for 60th. Both Jones and McCarthy played as individuals for the Tigers.

Florida State led wire-to-wire and pulled away to win the event at 10-under.

It will be a quick turnaround for Auburn who leaves later this week for the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The three-day tournament, beginning Monday, Feb. 28, will be broadcasted live each day on the Golf Channel.
