Coggin goes low in day two of Amer Ari Invitational

WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i –Auburn's individual golfer, Austin Coggin, finds himself in third place following the conclusion of play on Friday after turning in a scorecard that duplicated his career-best outing from round one.
 
Coggin's 36-hole score of 134, 10-under-par is not only a career best but is also tied for the eighth-lowest two-round outing in program history.

As a team, the Tigers are shooting 567, 9-below-par. Auburn's play is matched by San Jose State and No. 6 Stanford. No. 9 Texas Tech leads the field at 540, 36-below-par heading into the final round of play.
 
The Tigers were able to move their way up the leaderboard thanks to a consistent outing from each man in the lineup, all of whom shot at or below par during Friday's round of play.
 
"Today our team showed a maturity and a willingness to adapt to adversity that is immeasurable in this sport," Tigers head coach Nick Clinard said. "I am proud of how each and every one of them played, and I think days like this will make us stronger down the stretch and heading into the postseason."
 
Sophomore J.M. Butler led the lineup, firing a 68 (-4) to get back to even heading into round three.
 
Freshman Evan Vo followed Coggin in also matching his tally from round one, turning in another 71 (-1) to bring his total through two to 142, 2-under-par.
 
Junior C.J. Easley, sophomore Carson Bacha and freshman Brendan Valdes all shot par to hold their scores from the previous day.
 
UP NEXT
Auburn tees off round three at 11:30 a.m. CT in a shotgun start on holes eight and nine. The Tigers will be paired with Texas, Stanford and San Jose State for the last day of play.
