Alumni Spotlight: Brittany Scott

Alumni Spotlight: Brittany ScottAlumni Spotlight: Brittany Scott

In 1997, Auburn softball competed in its inaugural season. Throughout the 2022 campaign, we are celebrating the many faces, moments and victories that have shaped our program over the last 25 years.

As part of our 25 Years of Auburn Softball celebration, we're checking in with alumni from every era of the program to share their memories of being a Tiger.

With over 75 runs scored and hits to her credit, Brittany Scott (2005-08) was a big-time threat that opponents wanted to keep off the bases. Scott still ranks sixth in Auburn program history for career triples with five.

Q: Why did you decide to continue your softball career at Auburn?
Scott: I chose Auburn because it reminded me a lot of home. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the family feel.

Q: What is your favorite on-field memory?
Scott: My favorite on-field memory would definitely be our pre-game dance sessions, especially with my outfield. We would have an absolute blast getting pumped and hyped before a game.

Q: What do you consider your biggest accomplishment during your collegiate career – on or off the field?
Scott: My biggest accomplishment during my collegiate career would be simply learning how to truly compete. No one prepares you for the mental aspects of the game as an incoming freshman. I played with some of the most amazing athletes that brought their A-game each and every day. I had to learn how to fight and complete to the be the best athlete that I could ever possibly be.

Q: What is one of your favorite memories with a teammate?
Scott: There are so many memories. I know she is going to be absolutely upset that I wrote this… Brittany Day and I have been best friends since we entered Auburn together in 2004. We lived together for three years while at Auburn. Our freshman year, coach Deese arranged for us to stay at a hotel during the week of spring break due to the dorm rules. Not getting into too many details, but she and I have one of the most memorable April Fool's jokes that would go down in the history books for life. I love you, BDay.

Q: Looking back at your career, what is one word you'd use to describe it?
Scott: EPIC. I loved everything from the day that I stepped foot on campus to the last time I drove down College Street. Auburn made me who I am today, and I will be forever thankful for the opportunities to be part of such a great university and softball program that was surrounded by amazing people.

Q: Who influenced your softball career the most?
Scott: My father influenced my career. I will always say that I believe I embarrassed him so badly when I first started playing ball, but he sacrificed a lot to reach me the game and show me what hard work really meant.

Q: What was your favorite uniform combo?
Scott: All Blue.

Q: Why advice would you give to current/future Auburn softball student-athletes?
Scott: Remember that Auburn is such a special place and never take it for granted. Grow not only as an athlete, but also as an individual. Learn the fight song early. Take advantage of every experience that you encounter while at Auburn. Learn from your mistakes and know how to deal with failure. Learn to compete and not to make excuses. Grind each and every day that you step on Jane B. Moore Field and wear your jersey with pride. Take the extra mile at everything that you do. Never let someone doubt you and your abilities. Strive to always accomplish your dreams and always be the best version of yourself. Believe in Auburn and LOVE IT!

Q: If you can give a message to the Auburn Family, what would it be?
Scott: Auburn is such a special place that I think everyone should experience once in their lifetime. It truly will make your heart flutter, and I am so thankful for all the love and support that I received while being a student-athlete at Auburn University.

Q: What degree did you earn? What is your current career path?
Scott: I earned my bachelor's in exercise science with a minor in psychology. I also have a Master of Arts degree in teaching. I've been a biology teach and head softball coach for 13 years.
