Sunisa Lee garners SEC Freshman of the Week honors

AUBURN, Ala. – Freshmen Sunisa Lee picked up another Southeastern Conference weekly award as she was named the SEC Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
 
The weekly honor is her fourth of the season – Freshman (February 1), Gymnast (February 8), Gymnast (February 22), Freshman (March 1).
 
Lee guided Auburn to another record night for the program as the Tigers scored a 197.925 in a win over Kentucky last Friday, setting a program record. The score marked the eighth-straight score of 197+, a first in program history.
 
The St. Paul, Minnesota native won her fifth-consecutive all-around title with a 39.775. In addition, she captured three event crowns on the night.
 
Highlighting her evening was her first 10.0 on beam as she won her fourth beam title this season. That perfect score was also a first for an Auburn Tiger in Auburn Arena.
 
She won her seventh-straight bars title with a 9.975 as she debuted the Nabieva during her routine. It was the first time any collegiate gymnast has done the skill in competition.
 
Lee capped the evening with a career-high 9.975 on floor for her third-straight floor title. Lee and the Tigers went on to break the program record on floor with a 49.625.
