AUBURN, Ala. – Freshman Sophia Groth of the No. 6 Auburn gymnastics team was named the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Groth, of West Des Moines, Iowa, led the Tigers on the road at No. 3 Michigan last Saturday, scoring a 39.400 in the all-around to finish fourth overall in the category.
She came in a tie for first place on beam with a 9.95 for the first beam title of her career. She added a 9.875 on floor and a 9.825 on vault for the squad with a 9.750 on bars.
Groth and the Tigers return to competition Saturday, March 19, at the 2022 SEC Championships. The team will compete in Session II starting at 7 p.m. CT inside the BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama.
