Sinz fires a 69, Foster makes top 10 to close Darius Rucker

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Auburn was making their push on the back nine Wednesday at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. Elina Sinz and Anna Foster made birdies. Megan Schofill drained a birdie from way out. The Tigers were as high as fourth at one point but struggled over the final three holes and finished in sixth place at 23-over for the tournament. 

"I am proud of our young ladies and feeling their pain for the rough finish on the last three holes," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "We are a good finishing team, so this was not the norm. We will regroup and get ready California." 

"I am very proud of Anna and Elina for their solid play this week." 

Foster continued her steady play with a 1-over 72 on Wednesday. The sophomore made three birdies over her final seven holes and finished at 2-over for the tournament. She was tied for ninth, earning her fourth top-10 finish of the season and the fifth of her career. 

Sinz posted Auburn's best round of the tournament with 2-under 69 in the third round. She made four birdies on the day and matched Foster with a team-best seven birdies for the week. Sinz jumped 16 spots into 12th place individually, finishing at 3-over. 

Schofill also made four birdies Wednesday, including a 20-foot putt that went down on the Par 5 15th hole. The junior shot a 73 (+2) and made it three Tigers in the top 20 as she placed in a tie for 20th at 6-over par for the tournament. 

Senior Mychael O'Berry carded a 78 (+7) in the third round and finished in a tie for 50th while fellow senior Kaleigh Telfer closed the week tied for 79th overall. 

Wake Forest stayed atop the leaderboard and the won the event at 9-over (861), followed by South Carolina (870), Arizona State (872), Baylor (873), Texas (873), Auburn (875), LSU (878), Alabama (880), Arkansas (884) and Duke 885 (885) to round out the top 10. 

The Tigers will get a short break before heading to Palos Verdes Estates, California for the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge on March 13-15.
