AUBURN, Ala. – With a coaching background that includes time with one of the top clubs in the country combined with extensive experience as a communications manager, Rachel Corbelli joins Auburn volleyball as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator. Head coach Brent Crouch announced Corbelli's hiring on Thursday.
Since 2014, Corbelli has coached at Austin Juniors, one of the top volleyball club programs in the United States. In addition to her head coaching duties, Corbelli came on as the organization's full-time communications manager in 2016, handling aspects of social media, marketing and branding. She also serves as the club's assistant director of recruiting.
"I am thrilled to welcome Rachel to our volleyball staff here at Auburn," Crouch said. "Rachel was the frontrunner in my search from the beginning because of her deep love and knowledge for the game, her care for her players and her background in communications, social media and marketing. As the recruiting coordinator and communications manager for one of the top clubs in the nation, Austin Juniors, Rachel is will prepared to step into the role of recruiting coordinator for our program. Most importantly, however, Rachel is a fantastic person, hard worker, and an inspiring, award-winning coach. Student-athletes will love her!"
During her time at Austin Juniors, Corbelli led her teams to numerous top-10 finishes in national tournaments, most recently finishing second in the Pacific Northwest Qualifier in 2021. In 2015, Corbelli was an honorable mention for AJV Coach of the Year.
Corbelli is also the head varsity coach and program director at Regents School of Austin. Having previously served as an assistant with the program, Regents School of Austin has made the TAPPS State Playoffs all five seasons Corbelli has worked with the program while three athletes have earned all-state honors.
Her coaching efforts earned her national recognition as she was selected as a 2021 AVCA 30 Under 30 award winner, which highlights the top coaches around the country under the age of 30.
Corbelli's volleyball roots run deep within her family. Her parents John and Laurie Corbelli won silver medals as a coach and athlete, respectively, at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. The pair coached together at Texas A&M for 24 seasons. Her brother, Russell, is currently an assistant volleyball coach at Missouri.
Corbelli earned her bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Texas San Antonio before earning a master's in journalism from University of Texas at Austin.
