Alumni Spotlight: Whitney Jordan

Alumni Spotlight: Whitney JordanAlumni Spotlight: Whitney Jordan

In 1997, Auburn softball competed in its inaugural season. Throughout the 2022 campaign, we are celebrating the many faces, moments and victories that have shaped our program over the last 25 years.

As part of our 25 Years of Auburn Softball celebration, we're checking in with alumni from every era of the program to share their memories of being a Tiger.

Kicking off our April alumni spotlights is Whitney Jordan (2015-17). The Athens, Alabama, native was part pf Auburn's two Women's College World Series teams. Jordan was a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member as was tabbed a 2016 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete.

Q: Why did you decide to continue your softball career at Auburn?
Jordan: The opportunity to play in the SEC on the big stage against the best competition in the country – and ultimately a chance to compete in the WCWS.

Q: What is your favorite on-field memory?
Jordan: Either beating Florida State to make it into the championship series at the Women's College World Series or beating Oklahoma in game two of the championship series at the WCWS.

Q: What do you consider your biggest accomplishment during your collegiate career – on or off the field?
Jordan: Being able to handle adversity, but most importantly being a good teammate.

Q: What is one of your favorite memories with a teammate?
Jordan: There's quite a few: being Jade Rhodes's roomie during my freshman heck-week in Brimingham, riding the bus with Courtney Shea, Haley Fagan killing alligators in her sleep during travel trips and eating out with the squad (Emily Carosone, Jenna Abbot and Anna Gibbs) often.

Q: Looking back at your career, what is one word you'd use to describe it?
Jordan: Clutch. I may not have always had the best numbers or was the fan favorite, but I always got the job done under pressure and when the game was on the line. I owe that to my teammates who always believed in and supported me.

Q: Who influenced your softball career the most?
Jordan: 100 percent – my dad – Andy Jordan.

Q: What was your favorite uniform combo?
Jordan: White top, white pants, blue belt, blue socks.

Q: What advice would you give to current/future Auburn softball student-athletes?
Jordan: Focus on past successes. Ignore the outside noise of people who know absolutely nothing about you, your work ethic, and the type of person/teammate you are.

Q: If you can give a message to the Auburn Family, what would it be?
Jordan: Keep showing this amazing program the love and support it deserves.

Q: What degree did you earn? What is your current career path?
Jordan: Physical Education. I am currently a K-6 Physical Education teacher at Hatton Elementary school and a softball coach at the high school.
