In 1997, Auburn softball competed in its inaugural season. Throughout the 2022 campaign, we are celebrating the many faces, moments and victories that have shaped our program over the last 25 years.
As part of our 25 Years of Auburn Softball celebration, we're checking in with alumni from every era of the program to share their memories of being a Tiger.
Next to the plate is Tiffany Howard (2013-2016). Howard cemented herself into Auburn history with her home-run robbing catch at the Women's College World Series. The Pembroke, Ga., native was a 2015 NFCA Third Team All-American, a 2015 Capital One Third Team Academic All-American, a 2015 Second Team All-SEC honoree and a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member.
Q: Why did you decide to continue your softball career at Auburn?
Howard: I fell in love with the family atmosphere on my first visit.
Q: What is your favorite on-field memory?
Howard: A tie between winning our first SEC Championship at LSU and hitting my first homerun vs LSU. It was the coolest feeling in the world to be embraced by teammates at home plate, and I never thought I would get to experience that because power isn't exactly my thing
Q: What do you consider your biggest accomplishment during your collegiate career – on or off the field?
Howard: Hands down, playing in the WCWS. It was one of my biggest dreams as a kid, and I got to live it!
Q: What is one of your favorite memories with a teammate?
Howard: Emily Carosone as a roommate. She played so many pranks on me. I cannot even count them (ex. toothpaste in my Oreos). My favorite memory with her was helping her scare the buh-jesus out of Jenna Abbott and making a Vine of it.
Q: Looking back at your career, what is one word you'd use to describe it?
Howard: Fulfilling. I feel as if my softball career developed me into the person I am today while also allowing me to complete many goals and dreams I had growing up.
Q: Who influenced your softball career the most?
Howard: My sister! We grew up play softball together and against each other. She made me into the competitor I am today.
Q: What was your favorite uniform combo?
Howard: Orange top, navy pants!!
Q: What advice would you give to current/future Auburn softball student-athletes?
Howard: Put in the extra work, stay confident and give it your all every practice. You WILL see results! Enjoy every moment you have on the field and with your teammates because time really does fly!
Q: If you can give a message to the Auburn Family, what would it be?
Howard: The Auburn Family is something special. You always made a huge difference when we got to play in front of you all. Thank you so much for the support you gave during my four years at Auburn and the support you continue to provide!
Q: What degree did you earn? What is your current career path?
Howard: Integrative biology (BS) and Master of Science non-thesis (MSNT). I will earn my DVM in May 2023 from Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine
