In 1997, Auburn softball competed in its inaugural season. Throughout the 2022 campaign, we are celebrating the many faces, moments and victories that have shaped our program over the last 25 years.
As part of our 25 Years of Auburn Softball celebration, we're checking in with alumni from every era of the program to share their memories of being a Tiger.
One of the top defensive players to wear Orange and Blue, Justus Perry (2017-21) was a two-time SEC Community Service Team member, a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member and closed her career ranked third in Auburn history in career putouts.
Q: Why did you decide to continue your softball career at Auburn?
Perry: Auburn felt like home and a place to be my complete self.
Q: What is your favorite on-field memory?
Perry: Hitting a grand slam to end the game versus Texas A&M.
Q: What do you consider your biggest accomplishment during your collegiate career – on or off the field?
Perry: Developing into a woman geared towards helping my community, becoming a leader, earning SEC Community Service Team recognition in back-to-back seasons and winning the Virgil Starks Passion Award.
Q: What is one of your favorite memories with a teammate?
Perry: All the late-night bus rides, coming home from different places.
Q: Looking back at your career, what is one word you'd use to describe it?
Perry: Rewarding. I learned a lot about myself and who I wanted to become.
Q: Who influenced your softball career the most?
Perry: My dad!
Q: What was your favorite uniform combo?
Perry: Everything white!!
Q: What advice would you give to current/future Auburn softball student-athletes?
Perry: HAVE FUN!! Life is too short, and so is college. Enjoy your teammates, make people laugh and love yourself!
Q: If you can give a message to the Auburn Family, what would it be?
Perry: I miss you all! Auburn set me up for a life worth living. I found my passion in coaching, and I plan to do it for the rest of my life – hopefully never against Auburn!
Q: What degree did you earn? What is your current career path?
Perry: I have a degree in law and Spanish with a minor in psychology. I am also working towards my master's degree in Spanish. I am an assistant softball coach at St. Catherine University.
