BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – It was about as good a start as the Auburn women's golf team could have had Thursday with 14 combined birdies on the front nine in the second round of the SEC Championship. The Tigers finished the round at even par, shooting 288 for the second straight day, and remained atop the team leaderboard.

Junior Megan Schofill made five of those 14 birdies on the front nine and added a sixth birdie on the back nine to finish the day with a 5-under 67. After shooting a 70 (-2) in round one, Schofill is now leading all individuals at 7-under heading into the final round of stroke play.

"I just hit the ball really well," Schofill said. "I never got myself into too much trouble and then made a lot of putts. I think I made probably six putts on the front nine inside 20 feet. I wasn't hitting it super close, but I just made everything."

"Megan is just playing beautiful golf," added head coach Melissa Luellen. "She has hit good shots. She's made putts. She hasn't done anything unbelievable. She's just played really solid."

Schofill's round of 67 tied Patricia Sanz (2011) for the second-lowest round at the SEC Championship in Auburn history. It was one shot off her career low.

Mychael O'Berry is tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard after another solid round. The senior followed her 71 (-1) from the first round with an even-par 72 on Thursday.

O'Berry and fellow senior Kaleigh Telfer both made four birdies on the front nine, including back-to-back birdies on holes 2 and 3. While O'Berry carded a 72 for the round, Telfer finished the day with a 74 (+2) and moved up into a tie for 42nd overall at 7-over.

Sophomore Elina Sinz maintained her spot in the top 25, shooting a 75 (+3) in the second round. At 4-over through two rounds, Sinz is tied for 25th individually.

Anna Foster (+10) is in a tie for 56th place to round out the Auburn contingent in Birmingham.

Heading into the third and final round, Auburn has the lead at even par (576), followed by South Carolina (579), LSU (580), Florida (588), Ole Miss (590), Vanderbilt (591), Alabama (592), Mississippi State (593), Kentucky (594), Tennessee (595), Arkansas (595), Texas A&M (597), Georgia (598) and Missouri (615).

The Tigers will wrap up the stroke play portion of the SEC Championship on Friday, teeing off at 9:40 a.m. CT along with South Carolina and LSU. Live scoring can be found on Golfstat.com.

"I'm just hoping we all play well tomorrow as a team – all five of us go out there and play our best golf," Schofill said.
