In 1997, Auburn softball competed in its inaugural season. Throughout the 2022 campaign, we are celebrating the many faces, moments and victories that have shaped our program over the last 25 years.
As part of our 25 Years of Auburn Softball celebration, we're checking in with alumni from every era of the program to share their memories of being a Tiger.
Next to take a swing is Morgan Podany (2016-19). A member of the 2019 SEC All-Tournament Team, Podany cemented herself as the ultimate student-athlete. The Ponte Vedra, Florida, native was a 2019 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete and a four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Q: Why did you decide to continue your softball career at Auburn?
Podany: I ultimately chose Auburn because of the family-like atmosphere among the team and coaches, the campus and academics offered, and feeling seen for my individual strengths on the field.
Q: What is your favorite on-field memory?
Podany: Being a part of the 2016 SEC Championship team and sliding headfirst into home plate against FSU to advance to the WCWS Championship Series.
Q: What do you consider your biggest accomplishment during your collegiate career – on or off the field?
Podany: Graduating Suma Cum Laude as the HCOB Graduation Marshal.
Q: What is one of your favorite memories with a teammate?
Podany: The game-time memories are great, but it's the ever-present, behind-the-scenes, small moments with your team that you carry with you. Pregame rituals, SEC road trips, locker room banter, big-time wins and even 5 a.m. at Jordan-Hare.
Q: Looking back at your career, what is one word you'd use to describe it?
Podany: Purposeful.
Q: Who influenced your softball career the most?
Podany: My parents and coaching staffs.

Podany: Icy Whites!
Q: What advice would you give to current/future Auburn softball student-athletes?
Podany: See challenge as opportunity and welcome the adversity because facing and overcoming it will serve you for the rest of your life. Be a good teammate, always.
Q: If you can give a message to the Auburn Family, what would it be?
Podany: Auburn Family - War Eagle! I'm forever grateful for the consistent atmosphere and enthusiasm that was created at Jane B. Moore to make it such a special place to play as an athlete.
Q: What degree did you earn? What is your current career path?
Podany: A marketing degree from the Harbert College of Business. I'm currently working for the PGA TOUR on the Presidents Cup team in Charlotte as a sales coordinator.
