AUBURN, Ala. – For players whose names go uncalled during the 2022 NFL Draft, opportunities are just beginning.
Former Auburn Tigers Josh Bynes, Jonathan Jones and Peyton Barber each traveled the path from undrafted free agent to productive and lucrative NFL careers.
Bynes, a linebacker on Auburn's 2010 national championship team, just completed his 11th NFL season and looks forward to season No. 12. He won a Super Bowl ring with Baltimore following the 2012 season.
A cornerback, Jones caught on with the Patriots in 2016, won two Super Bowls and signed a three-year, $21 million contract extension in 2019.
Barber, a running back, is fielding offers before his seventh NFL training camp this summer, having already doubled the average career length at his position.
Auburn standouts Chandler Wooten, Brodarious Hamm and T.D. Moultry hope to be drafted this week, making their case on video with consistent SEC productivity and in person during Auburn's Pro Day.
Wooten captained the 2021 Tigers after opting out of the 2020 season, selling scouts on his versatility and potential for further development.
"It's awesome to come out here and compete with my teammates every single week," the linebacker said. "It meant the world to me, now having the opportunity to chase my dreams. I bring a lot of versatility. The best is still to come. I'm just getting started."
Looking lean at 6-foot-5, 306 pounds after changing his nutrition habits, offensive lineman Hamm impressed the pros with his quickness and mobility.
"I'm going to bring a hard worker, willing to come in and do whatever for the team, guard, tackle whatever they want me to play," Hamm said. "I'm a team player, whatever you need me to do I'm there. At the end of the day, it's all about who's going to come in and work the hardest."
A defensive lineman, Moultry played in an Auburn-record 59 games from 2017-21. He enters the NFL Draft after his best season in 2021, compiling 33 tackles, 7.5 tackles four loss and four sacks.
The 2022 NFL Draft originates from Las Vegas Thursday with round one at 7 p.m. CT, rounds two and three on Friday at 6 p.m. CT and concludes Saturday with rounds four through seven beginning at 11 a.m.
