In 1997, Auburn softball competed in its inaugural season. Throughout the 2022 campaign, we are celebrating the many faces, moments and victories that have shaped our program over the last 25 years.
As part of our 25 Years of Auburn Softball celebration, we're checking in with alumni from every era of the program to share their memories of being a Tiger.
Entering the circle is Makayla Martin (2016-19). Cementing herself as one of the best in the country from the start of her career, Martin was a top-25 finalist for 2016 NFCA/Schutt Sports National Freshman of the Year award while also earning All-Tournament Team honors at the 2016 Women's College World Series. The San Diego, California, native would go on to set Auburn's career record for lowest earned run average while ranking third in career wins.

Q: What advice would you give to current/future Auburn softball student-athletes?
Martin: Don't be so hard on yourself or your teammates. Have fun and enjoy every moment, bad or good.

Martin: Interdisciplinary studies. I currently work in the mortgage industry.
