AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn track & field continues its outdoor season this weekend, April 8-9, at the Joe Walker Invitational at the Ole Miss Track & Field Complex in Oxford, Mississippi.

The Tigers return to action at the site of this year's SEC Championships after a weather-shortened meet last weekend at Florida Relays.

"We're looking forward to the opportunity to compete at Ole Miss this weekend, especially after we got cut short last weekend," Tigers head coach Ralph Spry said. "It ended up playing into our favor a bit because we're headed into this weekend a little more rested and a little more healthy than we may have been if we had competed both days. We're going to use that to our advantage and really be looking to give it 110% in each event."

Making the trip for Auburn will be a squad of 39 student-athletes consisting of various sprinters, distance runners, hurdlers and jumpers.

Last time out, the Tiger distance crew lead the way for both the No. 16-ranked men's team and No. 20 ranked women's team.

For the Auburn men, Cooper Atkins, Ryan Kinnane and Tommy McDonough combined as the only trio from the same school to place inside the 1500m's top 10.

Finishing in 3:44.06, Atkins was also less than two seconds shy of Auburn's freshman 1500m record.

For the women's squad, All-American Joyce Kimeli led the running group in her season debut.

In her 1500m, Kimeli clocked a 4:15.56 to finish second in a field of 36 and post the fifth-best time in school history.

The distance stalwarts will return this weekend with Kimeli in the 1500m, Atkins in the 800m and Kinnane and McDonough in the 5000m.
