He steps down for the second time as Auburn University's President today. Dr. Jay Gogue came back to his alma mater in July of 2007. He retired, the first time, 10 years later. When asked to serve as president a second time, Dr. Gogue said yes. Each time he dealt with a crisis. In 2007, a recession. In 2020, a pandemic.
Dr. Gogue has two degrees from Auburn, studying in horticulture. His doctorate came from Michigan State. He had stops at Texas A&M, Clemson, Utah State, Houston and New Mexico State, all with his wife Susie by his side.
Now Dr. Gogue gives way to Dr. Christopher Roberts, the former Dean of the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering.
