BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Helping No. 15 Auburn softball to its first series win over Georgia since 2017, Bri Ellis was honored as the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Tuesday.

The Houston, Texas, native was Auburn's top slugger at the plate and helped the Tigers to three victories, including two over then-ranked No. 15 Georgia.

Ellis was 5-for-10 at the plate with two doubles and a triple for a team-leading .900 slugging percentage. She also led the Tigers with five RBI while scoring a pair of runs. Ellis closed the weekend with a .538 on-base percentage.

Coming up big with a crucial hit, Ellis drove in the game-tying run off a double in the sixth inning of game two against Georgia, which helped propel Auburn to a come-from-behind victory to clinch the series.

The first baseman brought her season RBI total to 44, the second most ever recorded by a Tiger freshman.

Ahead of the final week of the regular season, Ellis ranks second in the SEC in home runs (18), third in home runs per game (0.37), ninth in slugging percentage (.791), 11th in total bases (102) and 14th in runs batted in per game (0.90).
