When Bryant Smith played basketball at Butler High School in Huntsville, he was a point guard, until a growth spurt at the start of his 10th grade year. At Auburn, under Cliff Ellis, he was a ball-hawking forward, known for his defense and leadership. He helped the Tigers to their first SEC regular season championship in 1999.
           
After a 14-year pro career overseas, he returned to his hometown and founded the Winning Foundation, a non-profit helping disadvantaged and at-risk kids. He was inspired by his mother and grandmother.
