JUPITER, Fla. –Auburn men's golf rising senior Alex Vogelsong captured the first amateur title of his career Sunday, shooting 280 (-8) and making birdie on the first hole of a playoff to win the 105th Florida State Amateur Championship at the Bears Club in Jupiter, Florida.

"To win here, at this event, is a dream come true," Vogelsong said. "There are a lot of great players every year. It was a great experience this week."

The Palm City, Florida product becomes the second Auburn man to leave the event victorious, joining Blayne Barber, who won the title in 2009.

To receive top honors, Vogelsong edged out Kentucky men's golf alum Reid Bedell on the first hole of the playoff. Rising Auburn sophomore Brendan Valdes also carded a strong finish at the event, shooting 290 (+2) to finish tied for 11th place.

Vogelsong joins teammate Carson Bacha as the second Tiger to win an amateur event this summer. Bacha walked away with the Dogwood Invitational title after shooting 22-under 266 at Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta earlier in the month.
