Benji Roland said withstanding a Pat Dye football practice was the toughest aspect of his life and that includes two bouts with cancer. He came to Auburn from Eastman, Georgia. Benji and his family grew up Georgia fans. Frank Orgel and Pat Dye changed his mind about where he would play his college football.
           
Roland played on some of Auburn's best ever defenses in the 80's with the likes of Tracy Rocker, Ron Stallworth, Quentin Riggins, Audray Bruce and Craig Ogletree, winning SEC Championships in 1987 and '88. As a senior, Roland was named an All-American. After a stint in the NFL, Roland settled in Auburn.
