AUBURN, Ala. – Watch list season continued for Tank Bigsby on Thursday as the Auburn running back was named to the watch list for the Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse. Now in its 13th season, the Paul Hornung Award is given annually to the most versatile player in college football by the Louisville Sports Commission.
Bigsby led Auburn last season with 1,099 yards rushing on 223 carries, averaging 4.93 yards per carry. He scored touchdowns on the ground and posted five 100-yard rushing games. He also caught 21 passes for 184 yards – sixth most on the team.
It's the third watch list for Bigsby this offseason. He was previously selected to the Doak Walker Award Watch List and the Maxwell Award Watch List. The junior was also a First Team selection on the 2022 Media Days All-SEC Team.
Bigsby has now been on the Hornung Award Watch List each of the last two years. Prior to him, Auburn has had Noah Igbinoghene (2019), Kerryon Johnson (2017) and Rudy Ford (2016) make the watch list. All three players went on to get drafted in the NFL.
The 2022 Watch List, comprised of 52 players, was compiled by a panel of college football experts based on a combination of statistics, career performance, SID recommendations and expectations heading into the 2022 season. In addition to the watch list, the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll will recognize players whose performances during the regular season meet the award's criteria. Players from both the watch list and the weekly honor roll are eligible to win the award.
This year's winner and his family will be honored at the annual Paul Hornung Award dinner at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville in March 2023.
