AUBURN, Ala. – It has been a successful summer for members of the Auburn equestrian team away from the Plains.
 
Representing the Tigers this summer has been juniors Kate Buchanan and Helen Lohr, sophomores Genevieve Ahlstedt and Kaitlyn Ferguson and freshmen Caroline Fredenburg, Lauren Hall and Alexia Tordoff.
 
Tordoff had big wins at Big A in Conyers, Georgia early July. The Powell, Ohio product was the circuit champion in Youth 14-18 Hunter Under Saddle, while picking up victories in Level 3 14-18 Horsemanship and in Equestrian.
 
Buchanan, of Scottsdale, Arizona, had success in her hometown as she competed in the 2022 NRCHA DT Western Derby, June 1-12. The junior rode in Intermediate and Limited NonPro and had a reining score of 217 during the show.
 
Incoming freshman Caroline Fredenburg has had a busy summer before coming to the Plains, earning a handful of champion titles and circuit championships. The Straughn, Indiana native kicked off her summer at the Premier Circuit in Lexington, Kentucky, June 2-6. She was named champion in Non-Pro Green Showmanship, Non-Pro Green Horsemanship and Non-Pro Green Equitation.
 
From there, Fredenburg headed to Cloverdale, Indiana for the Indy Celebration (June 10-19). She was circuit champion in Youth Horsemanship and Youth Pleasure. Following, she also competed at Big A in Conyers and was circuit champion in Youth Performance Halter Mares. In addition, she finished third in Level 3 14-18 Horsemanship and earned multiple top five finishes in Showmanship, Equitation and Pleasure.
 
Ferguson and Hall both competed at the APHA World Show in Fort Worth, June 24-29. Hall was Youth Team Tournament Horsemanship Champion, finished fourth in Youth 18 & Under Hunt Seat Equitation and fifth in Youth 18 & Under Horsemanship.
 
Ferguson put together a top three finish in Intermediate Amateur Horsemanship and was eighth in Amateur Horsemanship.
 
Ahlstedt spent her summer up in the Northeast, competing in Maine and New York. She captured wins in Youth Hunter Under Saddle, Equitation and Horsemanship at the Pine Tree Classic in Maine (May 27-30). She went to Candy Apple Classic in New York (July 8-10) and won a handful of titles – Youth Horsemanship, Hunter Hack, Working Hunter Under Saddle.
 
Lohr, a rising junior from Warrenton, Virginia, found success not too far from home at the Upperville Colt and Horse Show (June 6-12). She was champion in North American Young Jumper Development Program and won two out of three classes.
