She is among the most decorated athletes in Auburn University history. Ruthie Bolton played on three SEC championships and a pair of NCAA runner-up finishes. During her time on the Plains, the Lady Tigers were 199-13. After her college career, the McLain, Mississippi native played on two Olympic gold medal teams, including the 1996 Dream Team in Atlanta. She was the first player in Sacramento Monarchs history to have her jersey retired. When she retired from the WNBA, Bolton was No. 4 on the all-time three-pointer list with over 2,000 points.
Her story off the court is even more remarkable. While she was playing, Ruthie was battling domestic abuse. Her triumphant story was the subject of the SEC Storied feature "Mighty Ruthie." She is in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame and has a place in Auburn's Tiger Trail.
