BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Auburn soccer junior Maddie Prohaska has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
The honor is the third of Prohaska's career and the first since the spring 2021 season.
Over the week, the goalkeeper recorded 14 saves and a shutout in two contests at No. 2 Florida State and at Wake Forest. The lone goal conceded by Prohaska this season came via penalty kick at Florida State, matching the lowest total through the opening four games by an Auburn squad since 2015.
Prohaska now stands seventh in program history in career saves (149), third in career GAA (0.93) and fifth in shutouts (16).
"Maddie had an incredible stretch, going on the road against two ACC powers and only giving up the one penalty kick goal," Auburn head coach Karen Hoppa said. "She has raised her level of play this year and it definitely showed this past weekend."
Prohaska and the Tigers return to action Thursday, Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m. CT at home against No. 21 West Virginia.
