His offensive influences came from the West Coast … Bill Walsh with the San Francisco 49ers and Don Coryell with the San Diego Chargers. Al Borges had never coached in the SEC until he became Auburn's offensive coordinator in 2004. That Auburn team was undefeated and became, likely, the last unbeaten SEC champion snubbed from a chance to play for the national championship.
