Anna Foster posts 69, Tigers seek strong final round finish Wednesday at ANNIKA Intercollegiate

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn's All-American duo Anna Foster and Megan Schofill both shot under par in round two at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
 
Foster was 4-under through nine holes with two birdies and an eagle and finished the day with a 69 (-3) while Schofill closed strong with back-to-back birdies on the last two holes to card a 2-under 70. Schofill is now 2-under for the tournament and is tied for ninth on the individual leaderboard. Foster, meanwhile, moved up 23 spots into a tie for 31st overall. 
 
"Today was a better performance as a team, especially by our top two horses," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said after the round. "I was especially impressed with Anna's ability to turn it around after a rough start yesterday."
 
As a team, Auburn posted a 2-over 290, a 13-stroke improvement from round one. That gives the Tigers a two-day total of 593 (+17) and places them in 10th, 21 shots back of tournament leader Virginia.
 
Redshirt freshman Casey Weidenfeld made a pair of birdies on the front nine and finished with a 1-over 73 for the round. She's 5-over for the week and tied for 37th individually.
 
Ashley-Sinclair Curtis bounced back with a 78 (+6) on Tuesday to count toward the team score.
 
"The focus today was to minimize the mental mistakes which caused us to lose several shots," Luellen said. "Today was an improvement, but we still have work left tomorrow. The biggest area we'd like to improve is our play on par 5s."
 
Auburn will enter the final round on Wednesday paired with Alabama and Minnesota and will tee off at 8:55 a.m. CT. Live scoring for the tournament will be available on Golfstat.com and on the GolfStat mobile app.
