AUBURN, Ala. - In the first day of Auburn's fall schedule, junior Adeline Flach posted a singles victory over Virginia's Hibah Shaikh on Friday.
"The first matches of the fall season give us a lot of valuable information to utilize as we proceed through our remaining competition," said Auburn associate head coach Megan Falcon. "Our execution today may not have been great all the time, but I really liked the style we chose to play with."
Flach earned her singles victory over Shaika 6-2, 2-6, 11-9. Junior Anastasia Astakhova also played a singles match on Friday, as she fell to Virginia's Melodie Collard 6-3, 6-0. Flach and Astakova also played a doubles match against Shaikh and Collard, but came up short to the Cavilers duo 6-3.
On Saturday, Auburn's duo will be back in action at 3 p.m. CT with players from Princeton and West Virginia. Results will be made posted following Saturday's play on auburntigers.com.
