AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn juniors Adeline Flach and Anastasia Astakhova were victorious in a doubles match against NC State's Amelia Rajecki and Nell Miller 6-4 during the final day of the Wahoowa Invitational on Sunday.
The doubles victory was the highlight of the day as the singles matches did not go the Tigers' way. Flach fell in her singles match against Illinois' Ashley Yeah 6-1, 6-2 while Astakhova dropped her singles match against NC State's Sophie Abrams 6-2, 6-2.
"We were not as prepared as the teams we competed against this weekend," Auburn associate head coach Megan Falcon said about Auburn's performance in this weekend's tournament. "When our games aren't going the way we want them to, we must look at the quality of our training and ask ourselves the hard questions. As a staff, we will make sure we are better when we earn the next opportunity to compete."
Over the weekend, Flach had one win and two losses in singles play while Astakhova earned two wins with two losses in singles matches.s. As a doubles team, Flach and Astakhova won one match and dropped two over the three day tournament.
Up next, Auburn will have players participating in the NC State Invite on September 22-25 in Cary, NC.
