Auburn posts four ranked singles wins at 2022 Fall Ranked Spotlight

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn was able to post four ranked singles wins on Saturday at the 2022 Fall Ranked Spotlight in Cary, NC. All four Tigers in the tournament posted at least one singles win during day three of the tournament.
 
"There is a lot for us to work on, and a lot of different areas have been exposed as we have played a lot of matches so far this weekend," Auburn head coach Caroline Lilley said after Saturday's matches. "At times we have executed well and at other times we have had a hard time making the adjustments that will make us most effective. Adjustments are an integral part of the game, and tennis rewards the thinker who finds the piece of the puzzle that fits best."
 
Senior Carolyn Ansari defeated 46th ranked Giulia Morlet from Arizona State 7-6 (0), 6-4. Ansari also beat Tennessee's No. 96 Elza Tomase 7-6 (1), 2-6, 14-12.
 
Junior Ariana Arseneault fell to #58 Mary Stoiana from Texas A&M before bouncing back to defeat Arizona State's #69 Domenika Turkovic 6-1, 6-1.
 
Auburn freshman Kaitlyn Carnicella defeated South Carolina's Elise Miller 1-6, 6-7 (3), 6-2 before falling to Sara Ziodato from Virginia 6-3, 2-6, 2-6.
 
DJ Bennett took down 109th ranked Jayci Goldsmith from Texas A&M 6-4, 6-4 but also lost to Audrey Boch-Collins from Miami 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-1.
 
On Sunday, the Tigers will wrap up play in the tournament with both singles and doubles matches.
