AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn edge linebacker Derick Hall has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week for his stellar play against Missouri, the SEC announced Monday.

"It's a blessing," Hall said. "This showcases the hard work that not only myself but this team has put in throughout the week. Other guys on the defensive side of the ball have put me in position to be successful by doing their job as well. That's a unit award. It's not all about me, it's about this team. I'd like to give a shout-out to my whole entire defense."

In Auburn's 17-14 overtime victory, Hall made an interception, Auburn's first takeaway of the season, while recording two sacks and three tackles for loss among his six tackles.

"Rush and coverage playing together," said Hall, who returned the deflected interception 19 yards to Missouri's 24-yard-line, setting up Auburn's second touchdown. "One thing we say is tipped balls are picked balls. I was blessed to be able to pick that ball and take it back a little bit."

Hall helped Auburn's defense force five three-and-outs in the second half while shutting out Missouri after the second quarter.

"Derick's a captain. There's a reason why he is," Auburn coach Bryan Harsin said. "You know he's going to step up. He stepped up today."

Hall ranks No. 12 in program history with 16.5 career sacks.
