Auburn, Ala. -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association named Tyler Stice and Jan Galka to its Top 125 national singles rankings on Tuesday. Additionally, the doubles team of Finn Murgett and Jan Galka was ranked in the ITA's Top 60 national doubles rankings.
Stice, who was named a team captain for the 2022-23 season last week and posted a 15-10 overall singles record last season, is ranked ninth in the preseason poll. Galka was ranked tied for 89th in the same poll.
"Tyler has cemented himself in the conversation as one of the best players in collegiate tennis," said head coach Bobby Reynolds "He has earned the top ten preseason ranking for his consistent results over the past two years and he is excited to get the fall season started in a couple of weeks. Jan has the ability to compete against anyone in the country on any given day. His size, serve and clean ball striking creates a tough match up for many players, and I look forward to him building off last year's success."
Galka also was featured in the ITA's national doubles rankings as he and Finn Murgett were ranked 35th in the poll.
"Finn and Jan have had much success of doubles players with different partners over the past two years," Reynolds said about the duo. "Finn has finished ranked in the top 15 for two years straight, has been a NCAA doubles runner-up, and earned a lot of notoriety on the doubles court. Jan has been a staple at No. 2 doubles over the past two years, with a very good winning percentage. It will be exciting to watch these two great doubles players build their relationship on court and see where it can take them this fall."
The Auburn men's tennis team will kick off its fall schedule on September 23-25 at the Clemson Fall Invite in Clemson, S.C.
