BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second consecutive week, a member of the Auburn men's golf team has been named SEC Co-Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office Wednesday.

Junior J.M. Butler captures the honor this week, earning the first recognition of his career after being named Freshman of the Week thrice two seasons ago.

Leading Auburn to its 41st team title under head coach Nick Clinard, Butler was the lineup's top player at the 2022 Marquette Invitational. The Louisville, Kentucky native finished tied for second in the 87-player field with a 208 (-2). The placement marks the seventh top-five performance of Butler's collegiate tenure.

As a team, Auburn cleared the path to victory with the tournament's low round of 274 (-6) in the last stage. Butler led the team with a 67 (-3) on the day. In winning two of its first three events of the season, the Tigers are off to the program's best start since the fall of 2016.

In addition to a stellar weekly outing, Butler ranks second in the Auburn golf record book for career scoring average at 71.15 shots per event. Blayne Barber holds the record with an average of 70.83.

Butler and the Tigers return to competition at the end of the month, Oct. 23-25, to compete in the prestigious Isleworth Collegiate in Orlando, Florida.
