Men’s tennis travels to Tuscaloosa for ITA Southern Regionals

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Auburn men's tennis team will have six participants in the ITA Southern Regionals this weekend in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
 
In the singles qualifier round that begins on Thursday, junior Josh Raab receives a first round bye and will take on the winner of a match between Carlos Matarredona from North Alabama and Martin Bugaj from South Alabama. Raab's match will begin at 2:30 p.m. CT.
 
Five Tigers will be able to bypass the singles qualifier round and begin play on Saturday in the singles main draw. Freshman Alejandro Moreno will face conference foe Mississippi State's Petar Jovanovic while senior Finn Murgett will play, Lachlan Brain from North Alabama. Also, senior Spencer Gray will face Marcel Volz from New Orleans.
 
Seniors Jan Galka and Tyler Stice will both receive a bye in the first round of the main draw. The times for all matches on Friday have not been announced.
 
In doubles play beginning on Friday, Stice will be paired with Murgett and their opening match will be against Vanja Dobrnjac and Lucius Soller from Jacksonville State. Galka and his partner Moreno will play Louisiana's William Ribero and UAB's Oriol Fillat Gimenez. Raab will be paired with Gray against Will Gray and Harrison Williams from Samford. The times for Saturday's doubles matches have not been announced.
