When your number is called, you better be ready. Rudy Ford and Jack Driscoll were ready this past week. Both made the most of their opportunities and helped propel their teams to victory. That and more in this week's NFL rundown.
BEST OF WEEK 4
Derrick Brown, DT, Carolina Panthers
Brown once again made his presence known against the Arizona Cardinals in Charlotte on Sunday. He had a disruptive performance, recording two tackles, two QB hurries, and he batted down a pass. The former top 10 pick finished with a PFF pass rush grade of 73.7, his highest of the season. His 57 snaps were also the most he's played this season.
Jamel Dean, CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Another week, another stellar performance from Dean who was tasked with defending the Kansas City Chiefs' passing attack Sunday night. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes still had a strong day, but he had no success throwing in Dean's direction. The former Auburn cornerback was targeted four times and allowed zero catches. He also added two tackles and finished the game with an overall PFF grade of 67.3.
Jack Driscoll, OL, Philadelphia Eagles
Driscoll saw the field for the first time this season, taking over at left tackle when starter Jordan Mailata went down with an injury. Driscoll, who had worked primarily at right tackle, filled in admirably on the left side and helped Philadelphia remain undefeated with a 29-21 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. As a team, the Eagles rushed for 210 yards.
Rudy Ford, S, Green Bay Packers
Like Driscoll, Ford got his opportunity at safety for the Green Bay Packers on Sunday and took full advantage of it. The sixth-year player stepped in for Adrian Amos and made seven tackles without missing a tackle, gave up zero completions in coverage and broke up a pass in a 27-24 overtime win over the New England Patriots. Ford, who played 44 snaps, finished with a stellar 78.9 overall PFF grade, second highest on the team.
Carl Lawson, DE, New York Jets
Add another sack to Lawson's season total. The sixth-year pass rusher, coming off a season-ending injury last year, used his speed and power to blow by the left tackle and take down Pittsburgh quarterback Mitchell Trubisky late in the first half. Lawson had two pressures on the day, bringing his total to 11 through the first four weeks.
