AUBURN, Ala. – With the fall exhibition season at its midway point, Auburn softball preps for its next road challenge as the Tigers make the short trip to Montgomery to face Alabama State on Sunday.

First pitch is slated for 12 p.m. CT. Alabama State marks the second Division I opponent the Tigers face over its five-week exhibition season. Auburn defeated UAB 3-0 in Birmingham in the program's first weekend of the fall slate.

Auburn faced Alabama State twice during the 2022 regular season with a 6-2 win at Jane B. Moore Field in March before traveling to Montgomery in April to knock off the Lady Hornets 8-0 in five innings to conclude the non-conference slate.

The Tigers are scheduled to face both UAB and Alabama State at Jane B. Moore Field during the 2023 regular season.

Through the first four games of the fall, junior Annabelle Widra leads the team with a .667 average. All four of Widra's hits have gone for extra bases as she's knocked three doubles and knocked her first home run of the fall last weekend against Chipola College. The transfer from Michigan holds a 1.667 slugging clip.

Another new face on the squad joined the 'bomb squad' last Sunday as freshman Axe Milanowski following Widra's solo home run with one of her own. Milanowski is one of three Tigers with multiple RBI during the fall slate, joining Widra and sophomore Icess Tresvik.

A veteran to the Tiger lineup, senior Lindsey Garcia has been solid at the plate throughout the fall also boasting a .667 average with a double to her credit.

Not allowing an earned run through the first four games of the fall, Auburn's pitching staff has combined for three shutouts, holding opponents to a .122 average at the plate.

Splitting even time in the circle is junior Maddie Penta, freshman Emmah Rolfe and Widra as the trio has each tossed eight innings apiece. While all three Auburn pitchers have recorded at least 10 strikeouts this fall, Penta leads the team with 17.

This weekend's doubleheader will not be streamed, but fans can stay updated through the Auburn softball Twitter account: @AuburnSoftball.
