AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn redshirt freshman Casey Weidenfeld has finished the fall season with co-SEC freshman of the week honors, the conference announced on Wednesday.
The honors come after the Penbroke Pines, Fla. native helped Auburn capture the 2022 East Lake Cup title by defeating both of her match play opponents in the event.
In match play semifinals, Weidenfeld came back from being three down through the 10th hole including back-to-back wins on 16 and 17 to tie the match through 18. She ultimately took the match victory against the 36th ranked college golfer in the country according to Golfweek/Sagarin by winning the first extra hole. The match was the deciding win that sent Auburn to the match play finals.

The following day, Weidenfeld won in match play finals against her opponent from Texas A&M 3&1. The win contributed to the Tigers' sweep of the Aggies for the title. The redshirt freshman now sports a 2-0 match play record in her collegiate career.
